MEC Lehari's Department Pays a Befitting Tribute to an Energetic and Hard Working Principal Communicator, Ms Moeder Masae Laid to Rest at Setlopo

The passing of our colleague, Mpoletsang Idah ‘Moeder’ Masae left us, as the department of Community Safety and Transport Management family, especially the Media and Communication Unit lonely, wounded and reeling in pain.

Despite her long illness, suffering and having spent four months in hospital bed, mostly in the ICU and strictly confined, Moeder Masae’s death touched the hearts of many people, more especially those who were close to her; family, relatives, colleagues, friends and neighbourhood.

Throngs of hundreds of mourners crammed and overflew at her memorial service venue at the Mahikeng Airport Arrival precinct to celebrate her life. They came to reminisce of her, her contributions, her bubbly character and her warm interaction with colleagues. There was never a dull moment shared with this beautiful soul as she was quite talkative, walked briskly, was a passionate and hardworking employee.

As she was laid to rest at her home village, Setlopo in Mahikeng, mourners who filled the marquee tent were teary, lonesome and expressions of shock and disbelieve were drawn all over their sad faces. Only song and messages of condolences interrupted out pouring tears and heavy hearts mourners went through almost in unison. Bidding farewell to this ever smiling child of God, a niece to some, a colleague to us and a friend to many countless others was quite a mountain to climb.

The 33-year-old, Ms Mpoletsang Idah Masae, “Moeder” as she was affectionately known, joined the North West Provincial Government in 2011 as an intern at the Department of Finance in the Communication Directorate where she served for a year.

She has completed her Bachelor Degree and specialised in Communications. From 2013 to 2015, she was a employed on Temporary capacity, as a Teacher at Moteu Makabanyane Primary School. This is where she displayed her gentleness and caring characteristics, which to date we all bear testimony, she really was gentle indeed Masae joined the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management in February 2016 as a Communication Officer responsible for media relations. Through her hardwork, dedication and outspoken character, she made an impact immediately. She helped in building working relations between the Department and the media. Her passion for her work was demonstrated in her multi-tasking skill and ability

She joined the Trans Kalahari Corridor Secretariat family where she travelled with the team to countries such as Botswana and Namibia playing her role on public education and publicity. She was particularly handy on the road safety campaigns during the Trans Kalahari Corridor Joint Law Enforcement Operations last year 2018. The TKC JLEO is held thrice annually within the Three Member States (Botswana, Namibia and South Africa).
